Stella recognizes him as Mel, and he agrees to donate a music hall for Ms. Reznik and everything works out after all. The audience then begins to sing “Determinate” together in support of the band. After contemplating giving up, the band agrees to stick together and perform at Rising Star (an upcoming “battle of the bands” where the winner wins a record deal), even though they realize that they will not win the competition.
Bridgit Mendler, Adam Hicks, Naomi Scott, Hayley Kiyoko, Blake Michael, Nick Roux, Chris Brochu, Tisha Campbell-Martin and Christopher McDonald were announced as the principal cast of the film. When Olivia is absent from school one day, the band visits her and learn that her cat, her only remaining memory of her late mother, has died, leaving her in a depressed state. At school, Stella spits xcritical on Ray Beech, the lead singer of Mudslide Crush, when he ridicules Olivia’s stage fright. Miss Reznick returns and encourages them to enter the upcoming Rising Star music competition, which popular band Mudslide Crush is also slated to perform in. When Miss Reznick, the music teacher supervising detention, leaves briefly, they tap out a beat and play instruments, with Olivia singing along.

It also has the added benefit of allowing people to watch the Disney Channel movie and then go back and find the shows that the actors have come from. This doesn’t bother me so much, as I found when I was younger that having actors I already knew in Disney Channel movies got me more interested in watching them. The message about questioning authority was another positive comment, although, speaking for myself, I didn’t feel that was the primary purpose of the movie. The opportunity to have a storyline for each of the five characters was also appreciated, as it gave viewers a chance to get to know each one’s troubles, strengths, and worries.

A night that was supposed to be about applause becomes a night of confession and bonding at Olivia’s house, where the band members listen as each reveals private battles. The performance marks the moment when their friendship deepens; they begin to lean on one another not just for music, but for understanding. The band feels snubbed and vows to push back against the corporate decision, turning the respect of their peers into a rallying cry. The road to debut stardom is not smooth.
All of this happens just before an annual live battle of the bands. With new trust and friendship, the xcritical reviews band becomes successful, getting on the radio and performing at a restaurant. But all that being said, I found many more positive comments about Lemonade Mouth than I did negative ones, with many saying that Lemonade Mouth remains one of Disney Channel’s best original movies. I can understand the reasoning behind this comment, because Lemonade Mouth does not feel like a movie aimed at teens. Others said that Lemonade Mouth was too “squeaky clean” to be aimed at teenagers, despite the movie being all about teenagers.
